In the desire of the government to create more opportunities in the countryside in all regions, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) continues to embark on various programs that encourage more investors to come and create more jobs for the Filipino people.
Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez pushed businesses to invest locally and help the government develop regional growth centers that create more economic activities outside Metro Manila during the 3rd De Oro Business and Investment Conference in Compostela Valley on 5 March 2019.
Secretary Lopez shared that Region XI was the seventh top province with highest approved investments in 2018. This is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to promote cities and provinces in Visayas and Mindanao as investment destinations.
The Trade Chief underscored that the Philippines is on an economic breakout and currently implementing economic strategies focusing on manufacturing resurgence as well as inclusive, innovation-led industrialization. Sec. Lopez also highlighted all the key economic policy reforms and programs initiated by the Duterte administration such as the Ease of Doing Business law (RA 11032), a more liberal Foreign Investment Negative List (FINL), tax reforms, and the massive infrastructure program Build Build Build.
The investment conference was held in time for the 21st founding anniversary of Compostela Valley and the 12th Bulawan Festival. It gathered over 150 local business executives and investors and aimed to promote the province as the next investment hub in Mindanao.
Those who attended the event were Compostela Valley Governor Jayvee Uy, Representative Maricar Zamora, Mindanao Development Authority Director Ollie Dagala, and Torre de Lorenzo Chief Executive Officer Tomas Lorenzo.
