To combat the proliferation of SMS scam, the NTC organized a meeting together with the telcos to collaborate and craft a Memorandum aimed at deactivating links that lead to malicious sites. Smart has been conducting such efforts in the past which has led to 342 million ‘smishing’ messages blocked from June to August alone. — Atty. Just recently, Smart Communications released their latest stats on their effort to combat smishing which is stated below:
Smart Communications, Inc. has intensified efforts against fraudulent text messages. To keep customers safe, Smart has boosted monitoring and blocking activities in the first eight months of the year.
