The American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham Philippines) recently hosted its 120th Anniversary event in collaboration with Sheraton Manila Hotel on August 24. Dubbed as “AmCham @120: Spanning at Collab”, the event was attended by more than 150 guests representing a highly diverse range of business organizations and industries which share a connection to Philippine commerce.
The United States’ new envoy to the Philippines, Ambassador MaryKay Carlson graced the event along with Former Philippine Ambassador to New Zealand and now Acting Undersecretary Jesus “Gary” Domingo, Civilian Security and Consular Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Highlights of the event included a panel discussion participated in by Undersecretary Domingo, Mr. Ebb Hinchliffe, AmCham Philippines Executive Director, Mr. Bruce Winton and Ms Anna Vergara, Multi Property Vice President and General Manager of Sheraton Manila Hotel. Mr. Winton acknowledged AmCham’s role in supporting members as they navigate their businesses, “Our mission is to engage in the community – to engage socially, economically and participate in the business environment and we do that in special partnerships like the one that we have with AmCham”.
For her part, US Ambassador Carlson appreciated the “great connection” of the Filipinos and the Americans which she has observed since she has arrived in the country.
“AmCham @120: Spanning at Collab” is also the launching vehicle of Sheraton Manila Hotel’s newest events plug-and-play place, COLLAB.
Other highlights of the event included an exhibit showcasing AmCham Philippines history covering more than a century of advocacies and programs and sponsors’ booths of Eastern Communications and Globe Business. The other event sponsors are Sheraton Manila Hotel, Converge, Melcon Worldwide Logistics and Reed Elsevier Philippines.
