The Center of Excellence advances the organization’s focus on the power and utilities sector and growing local operations

EY, a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction, and consulting services, announced the establishment of the Power & Utilities Center of Excellence (CoE) in the EY Global Delivery Services (GDS) Philippines office, including plans to expand its team of practitioners experienced in enterprise applications and digital transformation this year.

The new Power & Utilities CoE will be a pivotal expansion of the power and utilities services to support and provide innovative and strategic business services to EY member firms and assist them in their client services across the globe.

Over 600 professionals with skills and experience in power and utilities, and major industry enterprise applications are based across EY GDS locations in India, the Philippines, China, and Poland. EY GDS in the Philippines has over 4,500 professionals that include people across technology, transformation, and strategy roles. EY GDS in the Philippines plans to ramp up local operations to strengthen delivery of services to member firms of EY in the region and around the world.

“We continue to build a high-performing team with global knowledge, committed to providing exceptional client service. Having a Center of Excellence in the Philippines will help us showcase diverse local talents and capabilities in GDS, and create a launchpad for sector-related solutions, assets, and accelerators,” said Arun Batra, EY GDS Client Service Leader.

The dedicated wing onsite enables faster coordination and knowledge sharing among teams focusing on asset management, client billing transformations, and operational management. The center will work closely with EY GDS facilities in India, Poland, and other Power & Utilities specialized teams across the globe.

Moreover, the launch of the Power & Utilities CoE demonstrates the sector focus of the organization and helps to address the needs of EY member firms, particularly in Asia Pacific, the Americas, and the Middle East.

“We are in a radically evolving environment and the government has also set goals geared toward energy-efficiency enhancement and conservation. Transformation is imperative. The new Power & Utilities CoE underpins EY commitment to building a better working world through business transformation, leveraging on local talent and expertise to make a sustainable difference for clients of EY member firms across the globe, economies, and the environment. The center will also play a role in generating more employment opportunities in the country to support service delivery,” said Wilson P. Tan, Chairman and Managing Partner of SGV & Co., a member firm of the EY organization in the Philippines.

The power and utility sector faces a radical disruption caused by digital technologies, green energy adoption and changing consumer expectations. The EY organization offers clients a complete range of industry-focused solutions to meet unique needs and realize transformation.

Through integrated business and technology services, EY teams support digital transformation in the energy and utilities sector, which is adapting to changes in customer demands and stakeholder expectations on sustainability, specifically on decarbonization and shifting to renewable resources.
