This coming Monday, June 13, 2022, the Bureau of Internal Revenue will inaugurate a state of-the-art Data Center, a new facility that houses the systems and associated components of the Electronic Invoicing/Receipting System (EIS) of the Bureau, which is set to launch soon.
Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Inchul Kim will lead the ceremonies, together with Department of Finance (DOF) USec Antonette C. Tionko and USec Mark Dennis Y.C. Joven, BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay, Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Kim Eunsub and representatives from Douzone Consortium to be led by Jung Kwang-Ok.
The establishment of the EIS Data Center is part of the Bureau’s preparation for the pilot implementation of the EIS, a project under the BIR’s Digital Transformation Program. It is in compliance with the provision of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Act, which mandated the BIR that within five (5) years from the effectivity of the Act and upon the establishment of a system capable of storing and processing the required data, to require identified taxpayers to issue electronic receipts or sales or commercial invoices in lieu of manual receipts or sales or commercial invoices.
The EIS pilot project was made possible through a grant given by the KOICA through the initiative of the Department of Finance. For the development of the eInvoicing/eReceipting System, KOICA commissioned the services of Douzone Consortium. The Agency also donated the software, and equipment comprising servers, storage and peripherals, 270 desktops, 130 laptops and 130 printers, which were turned over to the BIR.
