After 87 years in the country, Procter and Gamble (P&G) Philippines inaugurates its Cebu distribution center – the company’s first major supply chain expansion outside of Luzon. The 3-hectare facility is strategically located in Tayud, Consolacion, part of the rapidly growing Metro Cebu.
The inauguration ceremony took place on March 18, 2022, with Consolacion Mayor, Joannes P. Alegado, and Vice Mayor Teresa P. Alegado in attendance to mark the historic milestone.
“We are delighted to be part of P&G’s history. P&G will be able to serve the Filipino consumers faster round the clock. And equally important, direct and indirectly create jobs and employment opportunities. P&G will be creating a new ripple economic growth and another catalyst of progress and development in our region. The opening of P&G’s distribution center in our municipality gives us a renewed hope and energy as we aspire for better days ahead,” said Mayor Alegado.
P&G previously operated from one central distribution center and manufacturing facility—both located in Cabuyao, Laguna— to serve trusted brands like Safeguard, Head & Shoulders, Pampers and Tide to customers and consumers nationwide. The new distribution hub in Cebu provides P&G direct access to the Visayas, its several ports, and serves as a gateway to Mindanao region. The supply chain agility will enable the company to bring its brand innovations to more consumers nationwide much faster.
The newest hub is equipped with smart warehouse lighting to reduce unnecessary energy consumption, and all material handling equipment is powered by lithium-ion batteries, which are more energy-efficient and eco-friendly.
Over the pandemic, P&G continued direct and indirect job creation and hiring, with over 500 new P&G employees across its local operations. The opening of the P&G Cebu distribution center allows for the creation of over two hundred more indirect jobs in the locality.
“P&G is committed to be a Force for Growth and a Force for Good in the community and the country. As we expand operations in Cebu, we will partner to serve, grow and prosper the people and communities in the region,” affirmed Raffy Fajardo, P&G Philippines President and General Manager.
Even prior the inauguration, P&G was among the first companies to respond after Typhoon Odette and provide its hygiene and cleaning goods, water purifier products, food and medical-grade face masks produced from its Laguna plant.
