MPCALA Holdings Inc., (MHI), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road development arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) activates Oplan Biyaheng Ayos for the expected influx of motorists this holiday season in Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).

This year, with the government loosening land travel restrictions to help bounce back the economy, MHI anticipates 10% increase in numbers of vehicles from December 23, 2021 to January 4, 2022 plying its expressway. The toll road operator placed CALAX’s operation on heightened alert status to guarantee safe, secure, reliable, and convenient toll passages for travelers during the holiday rush.

CALAX is a 45-kilometer high-speed road network connecting the two provinces of Cavite and Laguna, targeting to serve around 45,000 motorists upon its completion. As of today, CALAX operates from Binan, Laguna up to the east of Silang, Cavite and services about 18,000 vehicles on weekdays and experiencing a high of 32,000 on the weekends at the start of December.

“The holiday season has been anticipated to increase mobility of our motoring public, more so with government loosening travel restrictions.  Together with our other related congestion management measures, we are suspending roadworks in CALAX from December 23-25 and Dec 31-Jan 2 of the new year 2022 to give our motorists unobstructed access,” said Mr. Roberto V. Bontia, President and General Manager of MPCALA Holdings Inc.

MHI will continue to render 24/7 Patrol and Security personnel for motorist assistance, as well as placing the Emergency Medical Service Team, towing service provider, and Incident Response Team on optimum level and positioned at Greenfield compound to respond to motorists’ emergency situations within 15 minutes upon notice.

CALAX Customer Service Centers will be available 24/7 anticipating RFID installations for seasonal motorists with no Easytrip RFID stickers, and reloading services for regular account holders to avoid inconvenience at the toll plazas.

Moreover, MHI also offers free towing for Class 1 vehicles (to the nearest exit only) from 6am of December 24 until 6am of December 27, 2021, and from 6am of January 1 to 6am of January 3, 2022.

MPCALA also continues to remind motorists to comply with the road safety laws such as Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act and Seat Belts Use Act; and to follow government’s minimum health protocols to help avoid COVID-19 transmission and its occurring variants.

MPTC is the biggest tollway builder and operator in the Philippines. Aside from CALAX, it also holds the concession for the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) CAVITEX C5 Link, North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and the upcoming Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
