As expected, Eduard “The Landslide” Folayang became a two-time ONE World lightweight champion after taking Singaporean Amir Khan to school in ONE: Conquest of Champions card Friday at Mall of Asia Arena.
The former high school teacher turned mix martial art won a unanimous decision after a massive strike against Khan is no doubt the greatest Filipino mixed martial artist of all time.
Folayang, 35 years old showed his determination from the very beginning of round 1 until round 5. His ferocious attack was so difficult for Khan to handle.
Testing the waters against Khan in the early part of round 1, in the subsequent rounds he made sure that his opponent would not have the opportunity to counter attack anymore by aggressively a combinations of knees, elbows, legs, and fists. His back fist attack against Khan jolted his opponent. Though there was a sign of tiredness from Folayang, he was very much alert and was able to take down Khan from what could be a fatal attack and beat him with vicious elbows and punches.
It was a sweet win for Folayang who recorded two straight wins already after losing the title to Nguyen in November of 2017.
