SM Mall of Asia was recently granted the Safety Seal by the local government of Pasay, the first mall to receive the recognition in the city under the COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force’s safety program. The awarding ceremony was held Friday, June 11, at the SM Mall of Asia Level 2 Atrium. This brings to 33 the number of SM Malls awarded the Safety Seal by the IATF and their respective LGUs.

“We are very much honored to be the first mall establishment in the City of Pasay to have been granted this Safety Seal here at the SM Mall of Asia. We pledge our full commitment to uphold the minimum public health standards with the well-being of our shoppers in mind. On behalf of our SM family and our President Mr. Steven Tan, I would like to express our gratitude to the City of Pasay, the DILG, and the other government divisions in this program for assuring the consumers and the general public of the compliance with the minimum health standards while safely reopening the economy,” said SM Supermalls Senior Vice President for Operations Bien C. Mateo.

The Safety Seal Certification is a voluntary certification scheme that affirms that an establishment is compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government and uses or integrates its contact tracing with StaySafe.ph. It is being given by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Tourism (DOT), and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The seal shall be displayed on strategic spots at all entrance points according to prescribed dimensions and can be obtained at no cost to the establishment.

To date, all 3 SM Supermalls along EDSA and 30 other malls in Luzon have received their Safety Seals, while the malls in Visayas and Mindanao are currently in the process of review by their respective LGUs. This is a testament to the commitment of SM Supermalls’ to keeping its stakeholders safe amid the COVID-19 crisis through its #SafeMallingAtSM campaign. Under this campaign, SM Supermalls continues to implement strict safety protocols amid the pandemic as the safety and well-being of the shoppers remain its utmost priority.
