SPARK! Philippines in partnership with the Czech Embassy Manila and Galing Pook is launching #BotoNiJuanaBotoNgBayan, a monthly online plenary discussion that brings together various speakers, moderators, and audiences to tackle the contemporary issues in women’s political participation, representation, and leadership.

Running from June to August, this project aims to assembles community to share their knowledge and insights about the importance of women not only as voters but as active political players and decision-makers who promote nation-building and implement policies that address the intersectional issues of various girls and women—from the urban and rural poor women, indigenous peoples, differently-abled women, to women with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations.

#BotoNiJuanaBotoNgBayan mainstreams the inclusion of the women’s agenda in all discussions about political participation, and it pushes for an increase in women elective candidates, women registered voters, and women who will really vote in the upcoming 2022 elections.

#BotoNiJuanaBotoNgBayan will feature three online discussions. Wo/Men/toring Women Leaders focuses on the mentorship programs and available support for women in public office and aspiring public servants.

Women’s 18th Power encourages young women to exercise their right to suffrage and highlights the importance of young women’s vote to ensure that their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed.

Lastly, Women as Policymakers calls for more women to run for public office and educates emerging women leaders on how to launch successful campaigns on the platform of women’s rights and gender equality.

Through thoughtful and interactive discussions, #BotoNiJuanaBotoNgBayan will highlight the crucial role of women’s votes and representation in all levels of government in order to promote progress and produce positive societal impact.

This project is spearheaded by SPARK! Philippines, a SEC-registered NGO that champions women’s rights and promotes gender and development in the service of social transformation.
