Asiamoney names Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) as the 2020 Best Digital Bank in the Philippines besting all others in the country. The Asia’s premiere financial publication since 1989 cites RCBC’s excellent digital innovation during this pandemic.

The DiskarTech inclusion super app earns the accolade because of its life-changing impact in easing the financial burden of the Filipinos during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This RCBC innovation is a Taglish app that combines English and Tagalog that targets the masses, the unbanked and underserved. This is far cry from the other financial apps that only use English. The award-giving body cites this unique feature as the main reason for the award,” a statement released by Asiamoney.

Diskartech made the impossible, possible. It allows users to open a digital savings account and does not require an initial deposit, maintaining, or dormancy fees. It also offers digital financial services like bills payment, cash in, cash withdrawal, airtime and gaming e-load, fund transfers, telemedicine and insurance among others. What makes Diskartech a cut above the rest is that it offers more than just a lifestyle. It can be a livelihood partner making it possible for ordinary citizens to earn and save on top of just making it more convenient for them to spend their money. It is the only financial app that helps you set your money goals and realize it.

The digital financial app is really heading for success as Filipinos warmly accepted it. There were over two million downloads in less than two months since it launched in July 2020 beating out existing leading mobile apps who had been consistently occupying the top spot in the past. The international banking community has noticed this. The Philippine Fintech Report 2020 published by Fintech Singapore points this out.

“The Diskartech app is part of our continuing commitment to provide relevant and responsive digital solutions across segments and sectors making it inclusive, innovative and practical,” says Eugene S. Acevedo, RCBC president and CEO.

“We are more than grateful to the international observers for recognizing our efforts in our bid to bring services to the unbanked and underserved sectors in the country especially during these challenging times,” expresses Lito Villanueva, RCBC executive vice president and chief innovation and inclusion officer.

RCBC celebrates 60 years in the banking industry and continues to be at the forefront of providing customer-centric services. Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Go, a portable point-of-sale (POS) device deployed to accredited rural banks, cooperatives, microfinance institutions, pawnshops and even sari sari stores in the countryside, to perform as an ATM accepting any prepaid, debit or ATM cards in remote areas across 72 out of 81 provinces. More than Php 9.1 billion were disbursed benefitting more than 2.4 million families or approximately 12 million individuals nationwide.

The Asiamoney award is the third in a series of global recognitions received by the Bank for its digital innovations especially during this pandemic.

Just recently, Global Economics Limited, a London-based publication, names RCBC as the Most Innovative Internet Banking Service Provider. In July, RCBC bags the Best Digital Bank in the Philippines award during the Annual Alpha Southeast Asia Best Financial Institution awards.

“The award given by Asiamoney is a manifestation that RCBC made the right investment on its digital transformation efforts. This inspires us further to make world-class digital banking a standard service to every Filipino,” Acevedo concludes.
