Metro Pacific Water (MPW) has allocated ₱3.81 billion in capital expenditures (CAPEX) for 2026 to finance major water infrastructure upgrades in Dumaguete City and Iloilo City, as it moves to secure a more resilient and sustainable water supply amid the anticipated impact of El Niño.

“We recognize that demand continues to grow at a time when traditional water sources are becoming increasingly strained due to extreme climate conditions. These investments are being made today so our customers will not have to bear the burden of shortages tomorrow,” MPW President and CEO Andrew Pangilinan said.

The CAPEX program covers pipeline expansion, replacement of aging and undersized pipes, and the addition of 86,073 new water service connections, expanding access to more households. It also includes non-revenue water (NRW) reduction initiatives aimed at curbing leaks, illegal connections, and system losses—measures expected to improve water pressure, service reliability, and operational efficiency across its service areas.

To further strengthen supply security, MPW is accelerating the development of alternative water sources. These include desalination facilities capable of producing up to 65 MLD of potable water, as well as modular treatment plants with a combined capacity of 5 MLD, designed to tap nearby raw water sources within city vicinities.

“Through these strategic investments in infrastructure modernization and supply augmentation, we are strengthening the reliability of our systems and safeguarding access to clean and adequate water for our customers even as the El Niño season approaches,” Pangilinan added.

MPW currently serves approximately 860,000 residents across Iloilo City, Dumaguete City, and seven municipalities within its franchise areas.
