In a strategic move to streamline operations ahead of the Holy Week travel surge, AirAsia Philippines will transfer all its international flight operations to Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 starting March 29.
The transition covers both AirAsia Philippines (Z2) and Malaysia AirAsia (AK), and forms part of ongoing efforts by New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) to optimize terminal utilization, improve efficiency, and elevate the overall passenger experience at the country’s main gateway.
Beginning March 29, all international departures and arrivals of AirAsia Philippines will be handled at NAIA Terminal 1, including check-in, boarding, and baggage claim. Passengers are advised to proceed directly to the airline’s designated counters at the Terminal 1 departure area.
AirAsia Philippines President and CEO Suresh Bangah said the move is designed to improve connectivity and passenger convenience, particularly during peak travel periods.
“We are excited about this transition as it is designed with our guests’ convenience in mind. With our international flights moving to Terminal 1 and our domestic operations currently at Terminal 2, both terminals will now be in closer proximity to each other,” Bangah said. “This allows guests with connecting flights to enjoy a more seamless and efficient transfer experience.”
Key travel advisories

- International flights from March 29, 2026 onwards will depart from and arrive at NAIA Terminal 1
- Domestic flights will remain at NAIA Terminal 2
To support inter-terminal connectivity, NNIC provides a 24-hour free shuttle service linking Terminals 1, 2, and 3, operating at 15- to 30-minute intervals. Passengers must present a valid boarding pass or itinerary to avail of the service.
A special shuttle service for misrouted passengers will also be deployed starting 9:00 p.m. on March 28, with pick-up points at:
- Terminal 3 Departure Area (Bays 7 & 8)
- Terminal 1 (Bays A12 and A14)
The terminal reassignment applies only to international passengers traveling on or after March 29. Affected guests have been notified via email and SMS, with the airline urging travelers to regularly check their booking details and contact information.
Meanwhile, domestic operations remain unchanged at NAIA Terminal 2.
To ensure a smooth transition during the peak travel window, AirAsia Philippines has deployed additional personnel and activated 24/7 check-in counters, reinforcing its readiness for increased passenger traffic.
The airline said it will continue working closely with NNIC and airport authorities to deliver a seamless transition and a more efficient, passenger-centric travel experience.
