Norway and the Philippines reaffirm their strong maritime partnership as government leaders, regulators, and industry experts gather for the Maritime Cyber Security Conference 2026 on April 15, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Seda Hotel, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Organized by the Norwegian Training Center (NTC), the conference carries the theme “Access Granted: Anchors Up, Firewalls On,” highlighting the growing urgency to fortify cyber defenses across global shipping and port operations.
With cyber incidents at sea capable of causing operational disruption, financial losses, environmental damage, and risks to national security, maritime cybersecurity has become a strategic priority. As geopolitical tensions rise and digital systems become more integrated into vessel and port operations, strengthening cyber readiness is no longer optional but essential.
The event underscores the long-standing maritime cooperation between Norway and the Philippines, built on shared commitments to safety, resilience, innovation, and seafarer welfare. The Philippines remains a key partner for Norwegian maritime enterprises, particularly as one of the world’s leading suppliers of seafarers to the global fleet.
The conference will feature opening remarks from Norwegian and Philippine maritime leaders, keynote insights on the evolving maritime cyber threat landscape, and high-level panel discussions focused on regulation, collaboration, and industry preparedness. A seafarer’s perspective on onboard cybersecurity readiness will also be highlighted, reinforcing the human dimension of cyber resilience.
Among the distinguished speakers expected to address the conference are Norwegian Ambassador Christian Halaas Lyster, Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Administrator Sonia Malaluan, National Maritime Council Secretary Andres Centino, Norwegian Shipowners’ Association CEO Knut Arild Hareide, Norwegian Coastal Administration Director General Einar Vik Arset, Norwegian Maritime Authority Director General Alf Tore Sørheim, and NORMA Cyber Managing Director Lars Benjamin Vold.
The Maritime Cyber Security Conference 2026 aims to foster deeper bilateral cooperation, knowledge exchange, and industry alignment to ensure that maritime trade routes remain secure, resilient, and future-ready.
