Spanish electronic music innovator Hugo Capablanca will take center stage this Saturday, February 21, for a special artist talk at the Intramuros branch of Instituto Cervantes de Manila, offering Manila’s creative community a rare, up-close encounter with one of Berlin’s most distinctive underground figures.

The event serves as a curtain-raiser to the 10th edition of UNKNWN Festival, positioning Capablanca as one of its most anticipated international guests. Known for his genre-defying sets and artistic versatility, the Berlin-based DJ and producer has carved a reputation as a key player in Europe’s electronic music scene and as the founder of cult record imprint Discos Capablanca.

Held in English, the conversation will explore Capablanca’s creative evolution — from DJing and music production to his parallel ventures in the visual arts. Renowned for his boundary-pushing sound and global collaborations, he brings a multidisciplinary perspective that resonates with both music aficionados and contemporary art enthusiasts.

Following the talk, Capablanca will perform at UNKNWN Festival, set to take place at Jardines de Puerta Real, further amplifying the cultural exchange between Spain and the Philippines through music.

The artist talk is presented by the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines, AECID Philippines, Intramuros Administration, and the Goethe-Institut Philippines, in partnership with Instituto Cervantes de Manila.

Admission to the talk is free of charge (festival tickets sold separately). Seating is limited, and early arrival is encouraged.
