Japanese Ambassador ENDO Kazuya attended the Kyushu University Forum: KYUDAI NOW – Manila Edition on February 11 at the Malcolm Theater of the University of the Philippines Diliman, highlighting growing academic and innovation ties between the Philippines and Japan.

Also present were UP Vice President for Research and Innovation Dr. Joel Joseph S. Marciano Jr. and Kyushu University Vice President Prof. SHIMIZU Shuji.

Organized by the Kyushu University Institute for Asian and Oceanian Studies (Q-AOS), the international forum showcased recent research by Kyushu University faculty and alumni, with sessions covering design, engineering, agriculture, medicine, and education and career pathways linked to the university.

In his remarks, Endo underscored the role of academic exchanges in strengthening bilateral relations, saying such collaborations have woven innovation and unity into the two countries’ long-standing partnership. He expressed confidence that Kyushu University’s culture of excellence would further deepen shared ambitions between the Philippines and Japan.

The event forms part of activities endorsed by the Embassy of Japan for the 70th anniversary of Philippines–Japan friendship and brought together members of the Kyushu University community from both countries.
