Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) posted its highest monthly passenger traffic on record in January 2026, carrying over strong momentum from the holiday travel surge and its best year to date.

New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the airport’s private operator, said passenger volume reached 4.96 million during the month, surpassing the previous record of 4.86 million set in December 2025.

Traffic was boosted by heavy holiday travel from December 20 to January 4, when nearly 2.6 million passengers passed through NAIA’s terminals. January 4 marked the airport’s busiest single day so far, with 180,089 passengers recorded.

International travel remained the main growth driver, with 2.42 million passengers in January, up 8.16% year-on-year and the highest monthly international volume in NAIA’s history. Domestic passenger traffic reached 2.54 million, rising 3.16% from the same period last year.

NNIC said airport operations remained stable despite the surge, supported by operational improvements rolled out over the past year. These include terminal upgrades, the deployment of biometric immigration e-gates and passenger processing systems, and closer coordination among airlines, government agencies, and service providers to better manage queues, flights, and passenger flow.

NAIA is the country’s primary aviation hub for both domestic and international travel. Under the public-private partnership, NNIC oversees the airport’s operations, maintenance, and modernization, while ownership remains with the government.

As of January 2026, NNIC has remitted P62.7 billion to the national government since assuming NAIA operations in September 2024, in line with its concession agreement.

If you want it even punchier or more data-forward (e.g., investor angle), I can tweak the lead or tighten it further.
