Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has once again earned international recognition for excellence in sustainability reporting, marking its sixth consecutive year of distinction at the 2025 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT).

Meralco’s One Meralco 2024 Integrated Report received a Silver Award for its strong alignment with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, highlighting the company’s robust sustainability strategy, sound governance, ESG performance, and forward-looking outlook amid a rapidly evolving external environment.

The 2024 Integrated Report is among the first in the Philippines to adopt both the International Integrated Reporting Framework and the IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures standard—well ahead of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s regulatory timeline. It also represents Meralco’s first double materiality assessment, measuring the company’s impact on people and the planet alongside the financial implications of sustainability-related risks and opportunities.

Meralco First Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Raymond B. Ravelo said the recognition affirms the company’s commitment to transparency and accountability. “By embedding climate, social, and governance elements into our disclosures ahead of regulatory timelines, we are not only meeting global standards but also positioning Meralco to address emerging climate risks, capitalize on opportunities in the clean energy transition, and deliver long-term value to stakeholders,” he said.

The report also formally introduced Meralco and its subsidiaries under the unified “One Meralco” banner, presenting a cohesive narrative of how the group creates value across its entire operations.

Organized by the National Center for Corporate Reporting, ASRRAT recognizes companies for sustainability reports that disclose energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

The latest accolade follows Meralco’s Platinum Award at the 11th Asia Integrated Reporting Awards in October, further strengthening its standing as a regional leader in integrated and sustainability reporting.

Meralco’s sustainability agenda, Powering the Good Life, launched in 2019, is anchored on the UN SDGs and driven by four strategic pillars: Power, Planet, People, and Prosperity.
