The Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has clinched the Platinum Award for Asia’s Best Integrated Report – First Time Category at the 2025 Asia Integrated Reporting Awards (AIRA), the region’s most prestigious recognition program for corporate reporting.

Meralco’s inaugural One Meralco 2024 Integrated Report emerged as the highest-scoring first-time submission across Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East—solidifying the company’s leadership in transparency, governance, and sustainability reporting.

AIRA honors excellence in integrated and sustainability reporting through a rigorous multi-stage evaluation and reputation assessment. The Platinum distinction underscores Meralco’s commitment to elevating corporate accountability and value-driven disclosures in the Philippines.

“The One Meralco 2024 Integrated Report sets a new benchmark in the region, presenting a cohesive and comprehensive view of our strategy, governance, performance, and long-term value creation,” the company said.

Meralco First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo emphasized the importance of embedding sustainability into the company’s reporting framework, “Stakeholder concerns today go far beyond financial results. Climate risks, social impact, and governance are now key drivers of value. By integrating these ahead of regulatory timelines, we are preparing Meralco not only to meet current requirements but to navigate the opportunities and challenges of the years ahead.”

The report is among the first in the Philippines to adopt both the International Integrated Reporting Framework and the IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures—well ahead of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s implementation schedule. It also features Meralco’s first double materiality assessment, evaluating both its impacts on people and the planet and the financial implications of sustainability risks and opportunities.

“One Meralco” consolidates the narrative of Meralco and its subsidiaries into a unified account of economic, environmental, and social value creation.

“AIRA winners are redefining corporate transparency and long-term value creation through integrated thinking,” said Rajesh Chhabara, Managing Director of CSRWorks International and founder of the Asia Integrated Reporting Awards.
