Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, together with its corporate social responsibility arm, One Meralco Foundation (OMF), and the Intramuros Administration, officially opened the Liwanag Park at the historic walled city of Intramuros for the second consecutive year.
Located at Plaza Roma, the Meralco Liwanag Park is expected to attract families, tourists, and heritage lovers as the holiday season approaches. The ceremonial switch-on, held on November 26, 2025, was attended by OMF President Jeffrey Tarayao, Intramuros Administrator Atty. Joan Padilla, Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand Geluz, and Senior Vice President and Chief External and Government Affairs Officer Atty. Arnel Paciano D. Casanova.
The seasonal attraction features sustainable and energy-efficient installations, including a 20-foot Christmas tree made of recycled meter covers and steel crossarms, illuminated by LED bulbs. Another highlight is a replica of a Meralco tranvia made from recycled wooden boards, symbolizing the company’s historic roots and its connection to the heritage of Intramuros’ iconic walls.
The Meralco Liwanag Park in Intramuros will be open to the public daily from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. until January 4, 2026.
