Metro Dumaguete Water (MDW) inaugurated its 22nd pumping station in Talay, Dumaguete City, a key development that will help strengthen water supply for the utility’s more than 37,000 service accounts.
The new facility will add 3 million liters of water per day to MDW’s production capacity, directly benefiting an estimated 3,000 households or over 12,000 residents. The additional output from PS22 is expected to reinforce system capacity and improve service consistency in critical distribution zones.
“Every Metro Dumaguete Water project supports the company’s goal of ensuring that Dumagueteños receive safe and quality water. By augmenting sources, we are assuring our consumers that their taps have a reliable water supply for their everyday needs,” said Engr. Robert R. Cabiles, Chief Operating Officer.
MDW also marked the ceremonial inauguration of several milestone projects completed in 2025. Among these is the installation of about 2,000 meters of transmission pipelines designed to efficiently deliver water from pumping stations to the broader distribution network.

The utility likewise implemented upgrades aimed at improving water pressure and system resilience. These include the augmentation of pipelines in Yhalason, Mangnao — an area previously affected by low pressure — and the completion of an underground pipeline crossing at the Banica River in Barangay Batinguel to ensure more stable and climate-resilient water service.
“We approach our operations holistically, and the projects inaugurated today encapsulate this,” Cabiles said. “This means that while we produce more water from our groundwater sources, we also ensure that the water produced reaches our consumers’ taps.”
Metro Dumaguete Water is the joint venture of the Dumaguete City Water District and Metro Pacific Water, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Investment Corporation. The company began operating the city’s water system in February 2021.
