Following the recent launch of SmartSafe, the country’s first telco-powered anti-fraud API suite aligned with GSMA Open Gateway standards, PLDT Enterprise joined technology leaders, telecommunications firms, and policymakers at the summit to advocate for stronger collaboration and open innovation. PLDT Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise Business Group Blums Pineda led the company’s participation in several discussions centered on accelerating the Philippines’ shift toward a fully digital nation.
Pineda said that GSMA-certified innovations such as SmartSafe, which the Department of Information and Communications Technology has encouraged other telcos to adopt, illustrate the importance of industry-wide cooperation. He reiterated the company’s vision of a connected Philippines where industries, developers, and government agencies work together through shared platforms and open innovation.
In a panel on how Open APIs are shaping the next phase of digital growth, PLDT First Vice President and Head of Enterprise Product Management and Innovations Nico Alcoseba discussed how GSMA Open Gateway standards enable seamless integration, more efficient digital services, and greater customer value. He pointed to SmartSafe as an example of how API-driven solutions can strengthen digital trust.
During a roundtable on fintech security, PLDT Enterprise Senior Manager and Head of Enterprise Innovations and Product Development Mickey Ruiz explained how telco-enabled APIs can enhance security, protect users, and support growth across the financial technology sector. At the main plenary, PLDT and Smart Head of Network Strategy Eric Santiago and PLDT Enterprise Head of Strategic Business Development for Mobile Private Networks, IoT, and Emerging Technologies Gio Abaquin discussed the critical role of advanced connectivity in powering digital transformation nationwide.
PLDT Enterprise also highlighted its support for inclusive digital growth. Stephanie V. Orlino, AVP and Head of Stakeholder Management at PLDT and Smart, joined a panel on empowering MSMEs and shared how the company’s eBizNovation program helps small businesses embrace digital tools and skills to improve competitiveness.
Beyond digital services and API-driven solutions, PLDT Enterprise expanded its innovation initiatives in healthcare through a new partnership with Germany-based health technology company apoQlar. During the summit, the two organizations formalized a Memorandum of Understanding for the deployment of HoloMedicine, a cloud-based Mixed Reality solution powered by Smart’s 5G network. The technology enables medical professionals to visualize and interact with medical imaging and patient data in real time without complex integration requirements. The signing was witnessed by GSMA Asia Pacific Head Julian Gorman and GSMA Head for 5G Industry and IoT Community Terence Wong.
