Spanish companies have expressed interest in investing in the Philippines and supplying modern vessels to support maritime, infrastructure, and renewable energy projects.
The Board of Investments (BOI), led by Trade Undersecretary and BOI Managing Head Ceferino S. Rodolfo, met with representatives from GEOMYTSA, PROES Consultores, and AISTER Aluminium Shipyard to discuss possible areas of cooperation and investment.
The Spanish delegation shared their expertise in marine studies, engineering, and shipbuilding. One firm presented its experience in offshore wind and port development, emphasizing the need for support ports to sustain renewable energy operations.
The BOI outlined investment opportunities in shipyard rehabilitation, naval base development, offshore wind port facilities, and subsea cable landing areas. The agency also highlighted fiscal incentives and faster processing through the Green Lane initiative under Executive Order No. 18.

GEOMYTSA specializes in marine and terrestrial geophysical surveys and environmental monitoring. PROES Consultores focuses on infrastructure and sustainable engineering, while AISTER Aluminium Shipyard is known for building aluminum patrol and passenger vessels, including defense-grade boats.
The BOI said it will assist in linking the Spanish firms with local stakeholders as the Philippines continues to prioritize maritime development, renewable energy, and defense modernization.
