The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is working round-the-clock to restore electricity service to customers affected by Super Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong), according to Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga.

As of 1:00 PM today, the number of customers experiencing power outages has been reduced to around 166,000, down from a peak of over 400,000 last night. Most of the remaining outages are concentrated in Cavite, Bulacan, and Rizal, with others in parts of Metro Manila, Laguna, Quezon, and Batangas.

“We appeal for our customers’ patience and understanding as our crews continue working tirelessly to restore power,” Zaldarriaga said. “We also remind the public to stay safe and observe electrical safety precautions, especially in areas that experienced flooding.”
