International Workplace Group (IWG), the world’s leading provider of flexible office and workspace solutions, is venturing into healthcare facility management for the first time through a partnership with the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO).

On September 23 in Taguig City, APECO President and CEO Atty. Gil G. Taway IV and IWG Philippines Country Manager Rowena Natividad signed a landmark agreement to manage the ₱16.83-million Super Health Center in Casiguran, Aurora. The facility, funded by APECO, will serve both ecozone locators and the local community, while also supporting future “Silver Town” retirement facility investments.

The partnership marks a global first for IWG, expanding beyond its core business of workspaces to manage a medical suite—a move seen as a vote of confidence in APECO and the Philippines as an investment destination.

“For IWG to choose APECO as the site for this pioneering business model reflects the rising confidence of global companies in Bagong APECO,” said Atty. Taway. “This partnership shows that we can deliver world-class services through public-private collaboration while maximizing our existing infrastructure.”

APECO has been pursuing what Taway describes as a bold, proactive strategy to attract international partners by unlocking public assets for co-development, joint ventures, and public-private partnerships (PPPs). This approach positions Aurora as a strategic hub for healthcare, wellness, and investment along the Philippines’ eastern seaboard.

Highlighting the location’s potential, Natividad emphasized that Aurora’s natural beauty and strategic access to international logistics make it ideal for both healthcare and wellness-oriented investments.

“With growing demand for quality healthcare and limited infrastructure, this partnership is a vital step in bridging the gap—bringing real benefits to the community through IWG’s strong network and resources,” she added.

The partnership also signals renewed investor interest in APECO, as domestic and foreign players explore opportunities in healthcare, retirement living, and flexible workspaces within the ecozone.

IWG is reportedly studying the possibility of introducing its co-working and flexible office model in APECO, further expanding its role in shaping the ecozone as a new frontier for business, healthcare, and investment in the Philippines.
