The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is working round-the-clock to restore power in areas affected by outages due to the intensified southwest monsoon rains triggered by Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa).

At the same time, the power distributor remains on heightened alert as a new tropical depression—expected to be locally named Opong—enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

As of 2:00 p.m., around 16,000 customers were experiencing service interruptions, mostly in Cavite and Quezon Province.

“We assure our customers that our crews are working tirelessly to safely restore power in affected areas. We urge everyone to observe electrical safety, especially in flood-prone areas,” said Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga.

He added that Meralco continues to closely monitor weather developments to ensure prompt response to electricity service concerns brought by the inclement weather.

Customer Support Channels

Meralco advised customers to report outages and other concerns through its official social media pages on Facebook and Twitter (@meralco), by texting 0920-9716211 or 0917-5516211, or by calling the Meralco Hotline at 16211.
