It’s undeniable that Japan has long been recognized as a global leader in internet technology, envied for its ultra-fast speeds, nationwide fiber coverage, reliability, and affordability. With early investments in fiber-to-the-home and continuous innovation in 5G and beyond, Japan has built one of the world’s most advanced and resilient digital infrastructures. This reputation for delivering secure, stable, and high-capacity connectivity makes Japanese technology a trusted partner in strengthening the Philippines’ own digital backbone.

InfiniVAN, backed by Japanese standards of quality and security, is bringing its robust fiber-optic backbone to strengthen the Philippines’ digital infrastructure. With its extensive domestic submarine cable system linking Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, alongside multiple international cable connections to global hubs such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States, InfiniVAN ensures high-capacity, low-latency connectivity. Its fully redundant network design provides resilience against outages, while its scalable “bandwidth on demand” solutions cater to the diverse needs of government, businesses, and households.

The technology’s real impact lies in expanding reliable connectivity to unserved and underserved communities, including Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs). By delivering enterprise-grade service levels, competitive pricing, and 24/7 technical support, InfiniVAN complements the DICT’s vision of a secure, resilient, and inclusive communications network. This partnership reflects not only Japan’s trusted role in advancing ICT infrastructure, but also its commitment to building a stronger, more connected Philippine economy.

Taking pride and honor to have Japan’s internet service provider in the Philippines, no less than Japan’s Minister for Economic Affairs, YOKOTA Naobumi witnessed the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda, IPS, Inc. CEO MIYASHITA Koji, and InfiniVAN, Inc. President NAKAHARA Shigeki on September 18, 2025, at The Peninsula Manila Hotel in Makati City.

The MOU, aligned with the DICT’s vision of building a resilient and secure communications infrastructure, leverages Japan’s advanced and trusted technology through InfiniVAN’s extensive domestic and international network backbone. The initiative will help expand internet connectivity in unserved, underserved, and Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) across the Philippines, further strengthening the country’s digital foundation.

In his remarks, Minister Yokota underscored that this initiative reflects the concurrence between Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during the Japan–Philippines Summit in April 2025. That meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to deepen public–private partnerships in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector to bolster economic resilience.

Minister Yokota expressed confidence that the cooperation will succeed, noting that it signifies “not only the provision of greater and more secure connectivity for the Government of the Philippines, but also a testament to the deep trust and enduring friendship between Japan and the Philippines.
