Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines ENDO Kazuya of Japan visited The Judicial Academy Philippines (TJAP) in Tagaytay City, on September 17, 2025, reaffirming Japan’s commitment to supporting judicial education and capacity-building in the Philippines.

Established in 2010 through the Government of Japan’s assistance under the Counter-value Fund from Non-Project Grant Aid, the TJAP serves as a key venue for judicial education. Its facilities have since enhanced the ability of the Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA) to provide continuous legal and judicial training for justices, judges, court personnel, lawyers, and aspiring members of the judiciary across the country.

During his visit, Ambassador Endo was warmly welcomed by Chancellor Justice Rosmari Declaro Carandang and senior officials of PHILJA. He toured the Academy’s facilities and engaged in discussions on its history, functions, and vital role in advancing judicial excellence. The visit underscored the long-standing partnership between Japan and the Philippines, particularly in strengthening institutions that uphold the rule of law.
Ambassador Endo highlighted Japan’s continued support for judicial education, emphasizing that strong and independent judicial institutions are essential for promoting justice, stability, and mutual trust between nations. His visit reflected Japan’s broader commitment to advancing capacity-building initiatives that contribute to the Philippines’ sustainable development and good governance.
