Grab Philippines has launched Grab Asenso: A Digital Diskarte Program, a nationwide initiative designed to accelerate the digital transformation of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) outside Metro Manila. The program combines a multi-city Learning Caravan with new mobile-first merchant tools embedded in the GrabMerchant app—giving entrepreneurs both the skills and infrastructure they need to thrive online.

MSMEs remain the backbone of the Philippine economy—accounting for 99.59% of establishments and 65% of jobs—but many still lag in digital adoption. With 57.4% of retail payments now digital by volume, the need for merchant readiness is urgent.
Backed by DICT, LGUs, and merchant partners, the first leg of the caravan was launched in Angeles City and will expand to Cavite, Baguio, Bohol, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Bacolod, and Cagayan de Oro in the coming months.
“Progress happens when every entrepreneur, regardless of business size, can fully participate in the digital economy,” said CJ Lacsican, Grab Philippines VP for Cities. “Grab Asenso goes beyond seminars by pairing hands-on, mobile-based learning with ready-to-use tools—marketing, payments, logistics, and an AI copilot—so MSMEs can scale faster and operate smarter.”

DICT ICT Industry Development Bureau Director Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin lauded the program, calling it a modern-day form of digital bayanihan. “Grab Asenso is a testament to our shared belief in the power of digital technology to transform lives and build a brighter future for the Philippines.”
Unlike traditional initiatives, Grab Asenso combines skills, tools, and access to demand in one program. Modules include mobile-first digital marketing, AI basics for MSMEs, and financial growth planning—all designed for immediate use.
The initiative also introduces new tools within GrabMerchant, including Tap & Scan To Pay, which turns any NFC-enabled device into a checkout terminal, and the Grab Merchant AI Assistant (BETA), which provides actionable insights and trend suggestions in multiple languages.
Positioned as a flagship public–private partnership, Grab Asenso supports the national agenda for digital entrepreneurship and inclusive growth, ensuring that MSMEs and transport professionals are not left behind in the fast-changing digital economy.
