MPower, the local retail electricity supplier of Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has inked a fresh energy supply agreement with The Peninsula Manila, marking a major step in the hotel’s sustainability journey as it fully transitions to renewable energy.
The move positions The Peninsula Manila as only the second property in Southeast Asia—and the fourth worldwide—within the global Peninsula Hotels portfolio to run on renewable energy. The shift underscores the hotel’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, enhancing operational resilience, and aligning with its long-term sustainability blueprint, Sustainable Luxury Vision 2030.
Launched in 2021, Sustainable Luxury Vision 2030 seeks to address critical operational impacts while creating positive change for the environment and communities. The program prioritizes responsible use of natural resources, including energy, water, and food, while tackling the climate crisis and growing social inequalities.
“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship. By working together, we enable cleaner, more efficient energy solutions that not only reduce carbon footprint but also contribute to the global fight against climate change. This partnership sets a benchmark for responsible business practices and inspires others to pursue a greener future,” said The Peninsula Manila Director Kevin Tsang.
For MPower, the renewable energy contract strengthens its 12-year partnership with the landmark five-star hotel.
“Our more than a decade of partnership is a testament to a shared vision and service excellence. This renewable energy commitment takes it further—shaping the present with purpose and moving forward with confidence toward sustainable progress,” said MPower Head Redel M. Domingo.
MPower continues to expand its role in the country’s energy transition by offering cost-competitive renewable supply solutions, empowering businesses to pursue sustainability while achieving long-term operational efficiency.
