VITRO Inc., the country’s largest data center operator and a subsidiary of ePLDT, is celebrating its silver anniversary, marking 25 years of powering the Philippines’ digital transformation.

Founded in 2000 with the launch of the Philippines’ first-ever commercial data center in Pasig, VITRO has since grown into the nation’s largest and most trusted data center network, now housing over 13,400 racks nationwide. From its modest beginnings with a single 4MW facility, it has evolved into the digital backbone for more than 400 local and global enterprises, supporting mission-critical operations across finance, e-commerce, government, and other vital sectors.

“For 25 years, VITRO has been more than a network of data centers—it’s been building our country’s digital foundation,” said Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO Inc. “We’ve built the infrastructure, the capabilities, and the trust that Filipino businesses have relied on—and will continue to rely on—in a digital-first future.”

Pioneering Innovation in the Philippines

From day one, VITRO set the benchmark for enterprise-grade data centers in the country. Its commitment to global standards and future-ready infrastructure has enabled businesses to adopt emerging technologies—from cloud services to artificial intelligence.

A recent milestone was the launch of VITRO Santa Rosa, the country’s first AI-ready hyperscale data center. Equipped for high-density and high-performance computing, the facility is designed to power enterprise AI workloads, support hyperscalers, and strengthen the Philippines’ role as a regional digital hub.

Looking ahead, VITRO is preparing to break ground on another state-of-the-art data center in 2026, as part of a broader strategy to accelerate cloud and AI adoption, enhance digital ecosystems through stronger industry and government collaboration, and build future-ready data centers that will cement the Philippines’ competitiveness in the digital economy.

Investing in People: VITRO Academy

VITRO’s leadership extends beyond infrastructure to talent development. Through the VITRO Academy, a three-tier micro-credential program, the company is training the next generation of Filipino data center professionals.

In collaboration with five partner universities — National University, Asia Pacific College, Ateneo de Naga University, Far Eastern University-Roosevelt, and Wesleyan University — the program has already trained over 400 students, equipping them with the skills to operate in live data center environments.

“You can’t build a digital-powered economy without developing talent,” Genuino emphasized. “VITRO Academy ensures that we’re not just building platforms — we’re empowering young Filipinos to become future tech leaders.”

The Next 25 Years: Building a Digital Philippines

As it celebrates its silver anniversary, VITRO is reaffirming its mission to build, empower, and enable a Digital Philippines — one that is inclusive, competitive, and confidently prepared for the future.
