Japan Embassy Minister for Economic Affairs YOKOTA Naobumi joined the Department of Health (DOH) and UNICEF on July 30, 2025, to officially launch DigiVacc, a new digital platform aimed at modernizing the way childhood immunizations are recorded and tracked in the Philippines.
Developed under “The Project for Supporting Digital Health System for Infectious Diseases Control”, DigiVacc is funded by the Government of Japan and implemented in partnership with UNICEF and the Department of Health. The platform is designed to replace paper-based immunization records and ensure more accurate, accessible, and timely vaccination data.
DigiVacc has two key components, namely, VaccTrace and VaccCheck.
The VaccTrace, a web and mobile application that enables healthcare providers to digitally record and track immunizations in their areas, helping improve planning and resource allocation; while the VaccCheck, a mobile application that allows parents and caregivers to view and download their children’s immunization records anytime, ensuring vaccines are received on schedule.

Minister Yokota emphasized that the initiative is part of Japan’s broader commitment to supporting the Philippines in its digital health transformation. “This system will help close gaps in immunization data collection, empower health workers and parents with accurate information, and ensure that no child is left vulnerable to vaccine-preventable diseases,” he said.
This partnership underscores Japan’s continued support for public health initiatives in the Philippines, complementing national efforts to strengthen disease prevention and improve healthcare delivery, especially in remote and underserved communities.
