With power restoration nearing completion, Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has ramped up relief efforts to aid residents who were severely affected by southwest monsoon (Habagat) rains.

Through One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the company has mobilized employee volunteers to distribute relief packs which has so far benefitted over 2,600 families in cities of Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Pasig, Quezon, Taguig and the municipality of Pateros in Metro Manila; Bustos, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Obando, and San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan; Cainta, Montalban, and San Mateo in Rizal; Calamba, Calauan, San Pablo, Sta. Cruz, and Sta. Rosa in Laguna; and Amadeo, Dasmariñas, and Ternate in Cavite.
As OMF continues to extend assistance to more families heavily affected by the weather conditions the past week, Meralco also expressed its readiness to energize areas that are still flooded as soon as it’s safe to do so.
Meralco’s distribution facilities remain in good condition following the impact of the southwest monsoon, with electricity service back to normal in nearly all areas, except for locations that remain affected by flooding.

“We extend our sincere thanks to our customers for their patience and understanding, as well as to our partners including the Department of Energy and the local government units (LGUs) for the close coordination that helped us ensure that service is safely restored the soonest possible time,” Meralco First Vice President and Head of Networks Froi J. Savet said.
“We assure the LGUs and our customers that we are still closely monitoring the situation and we are ready to safely restore power once floodwaters subside in the remaining areas in Bulacan,” he added.
With rains still persisting in several parts of the country, Meralco reminds the public to continue practicing electrical safety measures.
