Conrad Manila once again proves that it is more than just a luxury destination—it’s also a sanctuary for the arts.
On July 15, the hotel unveiled the 36th edition of its celebrated Of Art and Wine series, featuring the evocative works of abstract expressionist Coeli Manese. Titled The Light That Never Goes Out, the exhibit invites viewers into a meditative space where texture, color, and emotion converge.

“We are honored to host this extraordinary body of work by Ms. Coeli Manese, whose creative force channels the spirit of resilience, introspection, and renewal,” said Lucky Ou, Director of Operations at Conrad Manila. “Through her masterful use of texture, color, and light, Coeli invites us to reconnect not just with art, but with the stillness within ourselves.”
Mr. Ou added that the exhibit casts a luminous spotlight—not only on Filipino artistry—but also on the enduring belief that beauty and meaning are never lost: “They evolve, they persist, they illuminate.”

The solo exhibition is curated around three central themes:
- Eternal Light, symbolizing an unseen but lasting presence
- Inner Illumination, representing personal transformation through insight
- Resilient Hope, celebrating the quiet triumph of faith over adversity
Manese’s distinctive palette infuses each work with symbolic meaning. Payne’s grey evokes wisdom and growth, turquoise channels healing and renewal, while burnt sienna reflects humility and devotion. These tones, layered through mixed media, turn each canvas into a contemplative space—an invitation to pause and reflect.

“This collection is a deeply personal reflection of my journey through faith, resilience, and creative awakening,” shared Coeli Manese during the exhibit’s opening reception, which gathered art lovers, business leaders, and media personalities. The ceremonial ribbon-cutting was led by SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation (SMHCC) President Ms. Elizabeth Sy, SMHCC Executive Vice President Ms. Peggy Angeles, SM Prime Holdings Chairman Mr. Hans Sy, guest of honor Mr. Brigido Simon Jr., and the featured artist herself.
In collaboration with Space Alt, The Light That Never Goes Out runs until September 13, 2025, at Gallery C on Level 3 of Conrad Manila. Visitors are encouraged to experience the exhibit not just as a visual feast, but as a journey inward—into moments of stillness, grace, and divine connection.

“Each piece is born from moments of quiet introspection, guided by the enduring presence of divine love and light,” Manese said.

About the Artist
Coeli Manese is a technically-oriented abstract expressionist whose work is rooted in themes of spirituality and self-reflection. Working primarily in oil, acrylic, and mixed media, she began painting professionally in 2018. She later honed her craft through international training, earning certificates from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

From 2020 to 2023, she has held three solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows across the Philippines. Despite her growing body of work, her approach remains deeply personal—viewing each painting as an act of worship and a testament to her spiritual journey.
