In celebration of Philippines-Japan Friendship Month, Mitsukoshi will host another exciting and much anticipated Tuna Cutting Show on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Basement 1 of Mitsukoshi Mall, BGC, Taguig City.
The Maguro Cutting Show will be led by Master Iichi Yamashita, a revered Japanese master cutter in Japan with over 40 years of experience.
Master Yamashita will demonstrate his skills and the artistry of cutting the tuna, and this ceremony has a strong cultural significance in Japan, not to mention that this is also a way of showing appreciating tuna as part of Japanese cuisine.
This tuna cutting ceremony can only be seen in Japan, and in the desire of Mitsukoshi Management to let Filipino be familiar with the rich Japanese culture, such as Maguro Cutting, they decided to bring in Master Iichi Yamashita to the Philippines from Japan to lead the ceremony.
It is a kinda of info-taining (informative and entertaining), as audience will see how Master Yamashita performs with precision in cutting the tuna into various cuts.
Mr. Tetsuo Koike, president of Mitsukoshi Federal Retail, Inc. is inviting everyone to join the show.
“The fresh, premium tuna weighing over 80kgs is from the Kochi Prefecture — [a place] famous for tuna farming, [and shall be] freshly harvested [which] will be flown to Manila exclusively for this event. [It] has become an annual tradition for MITSUKOSHI Fresh,” Mr. Koike said to THEPHILBIZNEWS.
“Witness the art of tuna cutting at its finest! Be part of this unique Japanese experience that is truly a feast for the senses,” he added. “Save the date, and we’ll see you at B1 MITSUKOSHI BGC for #MISTUKOSHIFRESH Maguro Cutting show on July 19 (Saturday) at 11:30 a.m.”
No registration needed.
Feel free to walk in and join this immersive experience of Japanese culture without a flight on weekend — only here in the first Japanese-branded shopping mall in the Philippines.
