TANABATA FESTIVAL

A Japanese festival celebrated every 7th of July, Tanabata is based on the once-a-year meeting of two star-crossed lovers. Marked by fireworks and wishes offered to the sky—each one a small expression of hope, just as the lovers are granted their fleeting reunion. In keeping with tradition, it is customary to write wishes on strips of paper and hang them on bamboo branches—a gesture of quiet longing and hope. A wishing tree will also be placed at Yamazato for guests who wish to take part in this tradition.

In honor of this, Yamazato presents three exclusive kaiseki featuring seasonal ingredients that reflect the passion and spirit within the wishes made.

TANABATA OBENTO KAISEKI

Served in a traditional lacquered box—indulge in a three-tiered Obento Kaiseki showcasing the finest ingredients of the season.

TANABATA TEPPAN KAISEKI

A5 Wagyu Sirloin—prized for its marbling and depth—is delicately grilled and finished with a whisper of yuzu for a bright, aromatic lift. Anchoring the Tanabata Teppan Kaiseki, honoring the season’s quiet sense of celebration.

PHILIPPINES-JAPAN AFTERNOON TEA

From delicate confections to bold, nostalgic flavors—enjoy a selection of seasonal treats and refreshments from July 1 to July 30, 2025, for PHP 1,956 nett per set, good for two (2) persons.

TRADITION & CRAFTSMANSHIP

This Philippine-Japan Friendship Month, Yamazato and Yawaragi present hands-on culinary workshops, from learning the delicate art of sushi with Chef Ikuma Sato to crafting mochi with Senior Pastry Chef Vi Serrano. Each session offers a deeper appreciation for time-honored techniques and Japanese flavors.

THE ART OF SUSHI MAKING

Sushi-meshi—vinegared rice—is the heart of sushi. No matter how exquisite the fish, it all begins with the rice. Discover the technique and patience behind the art of sushi-making, led by Chef Ikuma Sato.

Available on July 11 and July 25, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm for PHP 5,400++ per person.

MOCHI WORKSHOP

Mochi—a traditional Japanese treat made from glutinous rice—has long been a symbol of good fortune and celebration. Learn the art of mochi-making firsthand at Yawaragi’s exclusive workshop, led by Senior Pastry Chef Vi Serrano.

Available on July 4 and July 18, 2025, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm for PHP 1,400++ per person.
