Innovation without purpose is just noise—and for GCash, purpose means putting the customer first.

That was the message of Winsley Bangit, GCash VP and head of new businesses, at the inaugural Mansmith Product Masters Summit held at RCBC Plaza’s Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in Makati City.

“Innovation must be intentional. The best products are built when we listen closely to real customer needs—and when we learn from one another across industries,” said Bangit in his talk, Building a Robust Product Roadmap.

Bangit, who leads GCash’s strategic expansion into emerging growth areas like MadTech, insuretech, sustainability, and wealth management, challenged the industry’s obsession with speed for speed’s sake. Instead, he advocated for clarity, constant validation, and user-centered design as the true north of product development.

“Products shouldn’t be built just because they can be. They should be built because someone genuinely needs them,” he said.

Using GCash as a case study, Bangit shared how the company evolved from a simple e-wallet into a digital finance ecosystem by staying grounded in user pain points and reimagining what was possible through tech.

“We started as a payments solution, but we did not stop there. We tried to identify where we can enhance things, enable users, and enable merchants and we evolved into an ecosystem with much more,” he said.

The summit gathered product managers, marketers, entrepreneurs, and designers for a deep dive into the entire product journey—from ideation to execution. The event also featured speakers from Nestlé, JS Unitrade, and Ipsos, each offering insights on cross-industry innovation, research, and customer-centric strategies.

Organized by Mansmith and Fielders Inc., the country’s leading marketing and entrepreneurship training firm, the summit aimed to equip the next wave of Filipino builders with the tools and mindset to create products that resonate—and endure.
