With gin consumption in the Philippines on a steady upswing, British distilleries are tapping into one of Asia’s fastest-growing spirits markets, it was learned recently.

The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) highlighted this trend during its celebration of World Gin Day and the 7th Bartending Competition held on June 26, 2025, at Dusit Thani Manila.

The Philippine gin market is forecast to grow at an annual rate of 3.0% through 2029, while the global gin market is expected to reach $23.43 billion this year. The Asia-Pacific region, in particular, is leading the charge, presenting new export opportunities for UK brands.

In a clear sign of increased interest, the BCCP introduced seven British distilleries during the event—Eight Lands, G&I Spirit Group Ltd., Masons of Yorkshire, Rock Rose Gin, Spirit of Trent, The Cotswolds, and Whitley Neill Gin—showcasing 14 UK-made gins not yet available in the local market.

BCCP Executive Chairman Chris Nelson underscored this momentum: “We recognize the great turnout of this year’s World Gin Day as we saw an increase in new British gin companies interested in entering the Philippine market. With the current policy developments and a growing local demand, this is a great opportunity that British businesses should take advantage of.”

The celebration, held in partnership with PMFTC and 1834 Premium Gin, major partner Ayala Corporation, and media partner The Philippine Business and News, emphasized not just the economic relationship between the UK and the Philippines but also the cultural appeal of premium gin.

The event was hosted by BCCP Vice Chair Sarah McLeod and Events Committee Head and Trustee Chris Ward, and welcomed representatives from key industry players, including Ginebra San Miguel Inc., represented by Assistant Vice President and Marketing Manager Ron Molina.

One of the event highlights was the 7th Bartending Competition, which showcased the skill and creativity of Filipino bartenders while giving industry professionals, distributors, and importers a taste of British gin craftsmanship.

As British gin brands look to expand their footprint in Asia, the Philippines—with its dynamic beverage sector and growing middle class—offers a compelling market for growth and collaboration.
