Taiwan’s youth baseball team from New Taipei City’s Ku-Pao Home Economics and Commercial High School triumphed at the 2025 PONY Palomino League Asia-Pacific Championship held at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium from June 23 to 27. After four straight wins—including matches against teams from Maitum and Tarlac—Taiwan secured the regional title and will advance to the World Series in the U.S.

To celebrate the victory, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines, the Culture Center of T.E.C.O., and members of the Taiwanese-Filipino community hosted a special dinner on June 26 for the team and coaches.

Minister Dustin Teng-shi Yang of T.E.C.O. praised the players for their spirit and teamwork, saying, “This is more than a sports win—it’s a proud moment for Taiwan on the global stage.”

Head Coach Yang Hsiao-Cheng thanked T.E.C.O. and the community for their warm support. “We gave everything for Taiwan, and tonight we feel the power of the overseas Taiwanese community.”

Leaders from various Taiwanese communities in the Philippines, including the Taiwan Hakka Association, gather to show their support and pride for the Taiwan team’s outstanding performance

The celebration was led by T.E.C.O.’s Education Division and the Culture Center, with strong support from local OCAC council members, senior advisers, and Taiwanese community leaders. The Culture Center also encouraged local supporters to attend the games and cheer for the team.

With pride and determination, Taiwan’s young athletes are now preparing to represent the Asia-Pacific region in the U.S. World Series.
