Discounted school supplies and baon essentials were made available for Manila residents during the Department of Trade and Industry’s “Diskwento Caravan: Balik-Eskwela Edition held on Monday, June 13, giving much-needed relief for Filipino families as they prepare for the new school year.
DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque led the latest Diskwento Caravan and ensured that school supplies and baon essentials are being sold at low prices.
The caravan also featured a wide array of participating micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), offering various products at reduced prices:

- Boardwalk: Shoes and apparel at 25% off
- Jane n Mel Merchandise: School uniforms at a 6 to 7% discount
- L. Evaristo Shoe Shop: School shoes at up to 32.77% off
- MTDH Fashion Boutique: School uniforms at 7 to 9% off
- Streetwalk Footwear Store: Footwear, belts, and bags at 10 to 25% discount
School Supplies & Stationery
- Veco Paper Corporation: Stationery at up to 10% off
- SVC Advertisement Marketing: School supplies up to a 30.56% discount
- I and Gin Consumer Goods Trading: School supplies at up to 33.33% discount
Food & Groceries (“Baon” Essentials)
- King Sue: Processed meat at up to a 50% discount
- Ian & Cel Consumer Goods Trading: Gardenia bread at 3 to 9% off
“This caravan is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to bring government services closer to the people. By lowering the cost of school supplies and everyday essentials, we are helping parents stretch their budgets and ease their worries, as they send their children back to school,” said Secretary Roque.
The DTI chief also conducted a special price monitoring activity i in collaboration with Department of Education (DepEd) Assistant Secretary Cilette Liboro-Co, and Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuña-Panganthat The said activity made sure that participating MSMEs complied with the DTI’s school supply price guide. Fair Trade Group–Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau Director Gino Mallari was also present during the price monitoring
The national Diskwento Caravan program managed by DTI Assistant Secretary Dominic Tolentino not only helps consumers but also empowers MSMEs by providing them with a direct sales platform.
This Manila caravan comes after the successful June 13 leg in Muntinlupa, where 10 MSMEs also offered products below suggested retail prices.
