Ambassador Kazuya Endo received a courtesy call from President of the National Defense Academy (NDA) of Japan, Mr. Fumiaki Kubo on June 10, 2025.
During the meeting, Ambassador Endo and President Kubo exchanged views on Japan–Philippines defense cooperation and the role of academic exchange in strengthening bilateral relations. This also forms part of President Kubo’s two-day official visit to the Philippines to further strengthen defense education ties between Japan and the Philippines.

On 9 June, President Kubo visited the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in Baguio city, where he paid a courtesy call on PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Caesar Bernard N. Valencia. During their meeting, they held productive discussions on ongoing and future exchanges between the NDA and PMA.

Later that evening, he met with six (6) Filipino military officers who are distinguished alumni of the NDA. The meeting was a meaningful opportunity to reconnect and reflect on the strong educational and professional ties between the two nations.
President Kubo’s visit represents the enduring friendship and shared vision of Japan and the Philippines in promoting peace, stability, and capacity-building through defense education.
