Filipino exhibitors clinched $79 million worth of deals at the 2025 HIMSS Global Health Conference in Las Vegas, reflecting Philippines’ growing stature as a competitive hub for high-value business process outsourcing (BPO) services, particularly in healthcare.
The milestone deal was highlighted during a hybrid seminar on May 13 at the Consulate’s Kalayaan Hall in Chicago, hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in New York (PTIC New York) and the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago.
This achievement underlines the country’s rapid rise as a reliable provider of healthcare information management services (HIMS), a key segment within the BPO industry, said the DTI in a news release.
As global demand for efficient, cost-effective healthcare solutions increases, the Philippines is strategically positioning itself as a trusted partner for US healthcare businesses seeking expertise in billing, regulatory compliance, and service delivery, said PTIC New York Trade Commissioner Benedict M. Uy.
He said the Philippine IT-BPM industry now generates about $38 billion annually and employs 1.8 million Filipinos. He said the healthcare information management is the fastest-growing segment, valued at over $4 billion, and expanding at a 9% annual growth rate supported by over 400 specialized firms.”
Uy said the Philippine government is committed to creating a globally competitive outsourcing environment, citing key initiatives like the Data Privacy Act and the CREATE MORE Law, which grants fiscal incentives to attract and sustain foreign investment.
Titled “Bridging Filipino-American Businesses and the Philippine Healthcare BPO,” the seminar drew over 45 participants, including Filipino-American owners and managers of US-based home health agencies. It formed part of DTI-PTIC New York’s broader strategy to connect US businesses, especially those with Filipino roots, to Philippine service providers.
An interactive open forum followed the discussions, with participants raising practical questions on financial savings, payment structures, taxation, and liability insurance—reflecting strong interest and growing confidence in the Philippines as a healthcare BPO destination.
