From May 26 to 30, 2025, the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) provided capacity-building support for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) as part of the Japanese Government’s Official Development Assistance (ODA).

The Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT), dispatched by the JCG, was briefed by the PCG regarding towing operation manuals. In response, the JCG discussed necessary improvements and provided technical guidance to the PCG personnel, including those in the 44m class patrol vessel (Japan-provided patrol vessel), on essential matters for safely conducting on-site operations, such as command and supervision methods during towing operations.

The JCG will continue to work with the PCG to enhance its capacity building efforts.
