In a significant move to enhance digital financial services for overseas Filipinos, PLDT Global Corporation (PLDT Global), the international unit of the Philippines’ largest fully integrated telco network PLDT Inc., has announced a strategic partnership with stc Pay Bahrain, a leading mobile wallet in the Middle East. This collaboration aims to provide Filipinos in Bahrain with seamless access to a range of financial services, making it easier for them to support their families back home in the Philippines.
Expanding digital financial services
This partnership ensures that Filipinos in Bahrain will be able to conveniently manage their finances and send support to their families in the Philippines, all within a single app.
“This collaboration with stc Pay adds to our portfolio of services for Filipinos in the Middle East, promoting convenience and enhancing their overall experience. We are committed to providing reliable and innovative solutions that empower our customers and their families,” said Albert V. Villa-Real, President and CEO of PLDT Global.
stc Pay Bahrain will onboard PLDT Global’s digital vouchers, electronic gifts, bills payment services, and subscription PINs directly from Vortex, PLDT Global’s robust, secure, and integration-ready digital distribution platform, ensuring seamless transactions for users.
Customers will also be able to top up their mobile credits, pay postpaid bills, settle Philippine utility bills, and access government and insurance services, all through the stc Pay Bahrain app.
“Our partnership with PLDT Global strengthens our commitment to delivering superior customer experiences. By integrating their services, we are expanding our international presence and offering our growing subscriber base a wider range of digital payment solutions, contributing to our growth and success,” said Khalid Alosaimi, Chairman of stc Pay BH.
Strengthening foothold in the Middle East
This collaboration marks a significant expansion of PLDT Global’s digital reach in the Middle East, particularly in Bahrain, where a substantial Filipino community resides. It also strengthens the existing relationship between PLDT Global and stc Group, leveraging artificial intelligence and digital technologies to enhance connectivity and financial transactions.
Recently, PLDT Global announced significant partnerships with stc Group for international voice calls and stc Bank for secure payments in the region.
The integration of PLDT Global’s services into stc Pay Bahrain aligns with both companies’ goals of driving digital transformation and promoting greater digital inclusion for overseas Filipinos and reaffirms both companies’ shared dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
