Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) recently participated in the 2025 mock elections organized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in a bid to ensure reliable and stable electricity service for the upcoming May 12 midterm polls.
Meralco crews and personnel simulated quick response measures to possible power service troubles that may emerge during the elections such as downed electricity lines, loadside trouble, and fire-related outages. Seen in the photo are Meralco crews simulating the necessary response to a downed power line report at the polling precinct in Makati High School.
For the upcoming elections, the distribution utility will deploy generator sets and flood lights in strategic areas to complement the readiness of Meralco crews and personnel who will be on standby 24/7 throughout the election process.
Since November 2024, Meralco has been coordinating with the COMELEC in preparation for the elections—recognizing the critical role electricity service plays in ensuring the success of the democratic exercise.
