The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Philippine quarantine authorities regarding the export of fresh strawberries from Japan.
“As a result, the ban on exporting fresh strawberries to the Philippines has been officially lifted on 15 December 2024,” MAFF said in a news release through the Japanese embassy in Manila.
MAFF said the previous restriction was implemented due to concerns over pests associated with fresh strawberries from Japan.
In response, MAFF engaged in extensive technical discussions with the Philippine quarantine authorities, driven by requests from Japanese production areas.
