New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the private operator of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), has officially opened a centralized hub for ride-hailing services and metered taxis operated by JoyRide at Terminal 3 — NAIA’s busiest terminal.

The transport network vehicle service (TNVS) hub had a soft launch on Dec. 5, 2024, and became fully operational as of Dec. 8, 2024, just in time for the peak Christmas travel season.

Grab Philippines, the country’s leading ride-hailing platform, was the first operator to transition to the facility, providing services even during the soft launch.

This new facility is designed to reduce curbside congestion, improve traffic flow, and enhance the passenger experience. Located within the multi-level parking building at Terminal 3, the 6,000-sqm hub features 401 parking slots, 18 loading bays, and dedicated lanes for TNVs, along with multiple entry and exit points to ensure seamless traffic management.

“With a centralized hub and diverse transportation options, we are bringing more order and efficiency to the airport. This is part of our commitment to making travel smoother and stress-free for every passenger,” said NNIC General Manager Lito Alvarez.

Grab Philippines began its full-scale operations at the hub on December 8, setting the stage for other operators to follow. “We commend the NNIC for their vision to create a better and more efficient airport experience for passengers. As the nation’s leading ride-hailing platform, Grab is proud to be the first to transition to this centralized station, setting the standard for all TNVS operators. We are committed to working hand-in-hand with NNIC to ensure a smooth transition for our passengers and driver-partners and to enhance the overall airport experience for all travelers,” said Grab Philippines Country Head Ronald Roda.

He added, “This initiative is a game-changer not just for Grab drivers but for all ride-hailing drivers operating at NAIA Terminal 3. As a platform that represents and supports the livelihood of TNVS drivers across the country, Grab is proud to lead this effort alongside NNIC to elevate the experience for both passengers and drivers.”

JoyRide, starting operations on December 10, will bring its app-based rides and Super Taxi fleet to the hub. “Our partnership with NNIC ensures passengers have access to both app-based rides and our dedicated Super Taxi fleet, making reliable transport available for everyone,” said Noli Eala, Joyride SVP for Corporate Affairs.

Angkas, through its four-wheeled ride service Angcars, will also join the facility, offering another seamless option for airport passengers. “Our collaboration with NNIC ensures that Angcars provides a seamless, safe, and reliable option for passengers. This initiative is a win for travelers, drivers, and airport efficiency alike,” said Angkas CEO George Royeca.

All three operators have committed to deploying dedicated airport pickup drivers to ensure faster and more efficient service during the busy holiday season. Rates will remain comparable to coupon taxis, maintaining affordability while offering the added convenience of app-based services.

Passengers without ride-hailing apps can also make on-the-spot bookings at dedicated lounges for Grab, JoyRide, and Angcars, located adjacent to the car park. Grab’s lounge, for example, provides a streamlined process for immediate bookings, ensuring accessibility for all travelers.

This centralized hub is part of NNIC’s broader efforts to modernize and rehabilitate NAIA, addressing long-standing issues such as overcapacity and outdated infrastructure. By collaborating with industry leaders like Grab, JoyRide, and Angkas, NNIC aims to deliver a world-class airport experience that matches the needs of today’s travelers.
