True to its commitment to assist the post-World War II remaining Japanese in the Philippines as well as the 2nd Generation Nikkei-jin, the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines announced the latest initiative of their program.

In the case of Mr. Samuel Akahiji, who has been stateless in the Philippines for a long time has now acquired Japanese Nationality.

Mr. Akahiji was also able to visit Okinawa last December 2023 to look for his relatives after going through the “statelessness recognition” process. With the support of many people in both Japan and the Philippines, he acquired his Japanese nationality last week.

In the media release from the Japan Embassy, any remaining Japanese or 2nd Generation Nikkei-jin who wish to acquire Japanese nationality, are free to contact, inquire or consult with the Embassy at any time through:
