By Robert B. Roque, Jr.

Our Vice President, Inday Sara Duterte, must be delusional if she thinks Leni Robredo would welcome her with open arms in the opposition now that her 2022 alliance with Bongbong Marcos has turned sour.

Robredo’s camp has been clear — there’s no inclination toward any partnership with Sara. There’s a reason Sara is keeping her visit to Naga under wraps, and it’s not because she has some valuable secret she’s playing close to her chest.

If anything, it looks more like a failed attempt at relevancy. If she’s not delusional, she’s desperate, clutching at straws for political survival as her once-solid alliances crumble.

The idea that Robredo — whose campaign in 2022 fought hard for the nation to boycott the oppressive Marcos legacy which dragged heavily on Bongbong’s image — would align herself with the same iron-handed politics of the Dutertes is absurd.

For those left behind Inday Sara’s 2028 ambitions, I’m sorry to say this, but Robredo will not stoop to the level of political vanity and take the road to authoritarianism and corruption just to get back to the political high street.

Not happening! Robredo will be running for mayor of Naga City and she doesn’t need any high-profile backing to win that post.

Criminal behavior

I’m not that big a fan of basketball, although you could say there were days I enjoyed the thrill of championships in the PBA and the UAAP.

But this recent case of John Amores is nothing short of disappointing and enraging. A young player with an undeniable talent and playing in the PBA, yet here we are — discussing attempted homicide after a senseless shooting incident following a pick-up game.

What a waste of potential. He had the future in his hands but, instead, he threw it away over a petty bet and his inability to control his rage — one that has scandalized the NCAA even in his college cager days.

It also pisses me off that his criminal behavior trended, overshadowing what should have been a spotlight on Robert Jaworski and his lifetime achievement award from the PBA Press Corps. Instead, the headlines were stuck watching Amores’s descent into madness for days.

Here’s a toast to the “Big J.”
