The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has been named the Philippine winner of the Asia IoT Business Platform (AIBP) ASEAN Enterprise Innovation Awards for its “Certified by Meralco” (CBM) platform. This digital initiative provides end-to-end solutions for nearly eight million Meralco customers.
According to its news release, Meralco’s CBM platform, described as the “Uberization of the Meralco Service Application Experience,” won the award under the open category, beating five other finalists. It is the first of its kind in the Philippine electric utility industry, streamlining the service application process.
“With Meralco’s drive for customer centricity and digital transformation, we continue to innovate by providing solutions such as the CBM platform. Our customers appreciate the convenience of a faster and more streamlined digital application process, cost transparency, and the assurance of reliable, high-quality service from certified service providers,” Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand O. Geluz said.
“Moreover, we achieved groundbreaking results not just for our customers, but for our contractors and frontliners as well,” he added.
Launched in 2022, the CBM platform simplifies the electricity service application process, from submitting requirements to construction and permit acquisition. It also allows customers to see contractor ratings, ensuring high-quality service. This platform has led to faster application processing and improved efficiency for Meralco contractors.
“The best solutions aren’t always the most complex. What matters is effectively addressing pain points. Simplicity, combined with positive results and user feedback, often proves most powerful, and this is what we achieved with Certified by Meralco,” said Meralco First Vice President Rocky D. Bacani.
Meralco was also a finalist under the Data and AI category for its Meralco Data Platform (MDP), which centralizes data from its operations to improve analytics and streamline processes.
